FAQ’s
What are cannabis tinctures?
Cannabis tincture is made from marijuana plant parts that have been soaked in high-proof alcohol and then strained to eliminate unwanted substances. The resulting liquid is then taken sublingually (under the tongue) or orally. Cannabis tinctures are often used to help alleviate symptoms of various disorders and illnesses as well as to get high.
Are tinctures better than edibles?
Both edibles and tinctures are hard to beat when it comes to potency. Tinctures can have up to 1,000 milligrams of THC per serving, while edibles usually have fewer cannabinoids than tinctures. You can take your prescribed dosage with edibles by eating a piece of food. On the other hand, you can better control how much of the active ingredient you take with tinctures. When determining which one is better, the answer will depend on your preferences.
How do I get the most out of my cannabis tincture?
Tinctures can be taken directly by mouth or by mixing them into foods and drinks. Most users prefer taking tinctures sublingually. Here, you put the amount of liquid you want to take under your tongue, wait about 20 to 30 seconds, and then swallow the tincture. This speeds up the time it takes for cannabis to reach the bloodstream, usually between 10 and 15 minutes.
Tinctures can also be dropped directly into the mouth and then swallowed. However, it is vital to note that it can take anywhere from one to two hours for the tincture to start working because it must first go through the digestive system.
Should cannabis tinctures be refrigerated?
Cannabis tinctures don't have to be kept in the fridge, but doing so is an excellent way to extend their shelf life. Alcohol-based tinctures can last forever and don't need to be refrigerated as long as they are kept in a cool, dark place. Tinctures with vegetable glycerine base don't have to be kept in the fridge and can last between three and five years.
